Our 49th floor hotel room gave us quite the view of Shanghai's skyline. With its forest of skyscrapers, Shanghai's upward growth is dazzling. The city buzzes with energy: from its crowded streets to its massive malls, packed with people and luxury stores. Our morning stroll around Zhongshan Park was one highlight of the day. Anna enjoy the men spinning tops (even putting it on his head and posing for a picture with us), old men with their song birds in cages, kites flying above our 58 floor hotel (!), and lots of people dancing and singing.
The Bund (Puxi) gave us a great view of PuDong, home to some of Asia's tallest buildings. A few years ago I went to the top of Shanghai's tallest building, the Jinmao. Now two buildings the IFC and Shanghai Center tower over it. [You can see these three buildings in the distance on the left side of the picture above.)
We had a memorable morning and afternoon with fabulous friends there. After 1 1/2 hours on the subway we made it to the airport and flew to Guiyang. Now we hang out here and wait to get Lydia in two days, at 3:30 on Monday.
