We made it to Beijing at 3:30 pm local time. The flight was filled with Chinese students flying from Chicago back home. The abundance of international students meant few business travelers so we (err, Chris) got upgraded to Business class. (He did let Monica take a nap for a few hours.) An old friend met us at the airpot, took us to our hotel, and treated us to a wonderful dinner.
Anna is glad to be in Beijing. There were no personal TV screens on the flight so she got rather bored. In her boredom she wrote "I hate the flight because. . " Here is her list:
Ahh, this trip will be fun with this energetic, opinionated 7-year-old. Monica and Anna saw the Great Wall from the plane window. "There are so many mountains there," Anna commented, "I thought it would be flat!" Tomorrow we are off to see it in person.

- All that I am doing is sitting playing on the iPad mini and crafts
- It's boring
- We have to stay on the airplane for 13 and a half hours
- You can't do many fun things like Siri buying new games and no internet connection
- I'm tired from jet lag
- The seats are gross
- I have to pop my ears
- There's terrible food
- There is not many choices of drinks
- I want to open the window but it's way way way way to bright
- You can't even have your own tv you can watch
- I had to wake up at 4:20 am to get on the flight
- They don't show you the map a lot so you really don't know where you're going
- My hair is static which I don't like
- The air is not very good
- Are seats are not together [because dad selfishly took a business class seat]
- I hate taking naps
- I have to unbuckle my seat belt to get my back-pack and then I can't find the other end of my seatbelt but I find it eventually
