Merry Christmas from Guiyang, China! We spent our afternoon at a Fish/Bird Market. With Lydia strapped to my chest, I (Chris) got to experience every squeal of excitement, especially in the aisle of barking dogs. The highlight of our day came this evening. We decided to splurge with Christmas buffet dinner at the Kempinski, the nicest hotel in Guiyang. It wasn't cheap but it was worth every renminbi. The girls got gift bags as we walked in. They wore the masks and crowns and blew the annoying horns throughout dinner. When the live music began, Anna's craziness intensified. As she danced, Lydia laughed at her silly sister. Tomorrow we are off to Guangzhou. It has been a good week here but we are ready to leave. We got Lydia's Chinese passport today. Now we will have a medical exam and get her US Visa in Guangzhou. When we adopted Anna in 2008, I had to leave Guangzhou early. So I am looking forward to the week down there. Lydia's tears are lessening and her baby talk is increasing. She has a sweet but strong personality. Each day we enjoy experiencing new aspects of it. Though we miss our boys, having Lydia in our arms for Christmas has been an answer to many prayers. |
