After a nice flight from LA to Shanghai, we were faced with a dilemma. Should we take the Metro or the MagLev (a.k.a, the fastest train in the world) into town?
Easy choice when I'm traveling with my boys who like fast things. The MagLev it was. It can get up to 420 km/h (251 mph) but we had to settle for 301 km/h (187 mph). Strange feeling to race past cars going 70 mph like they are just strolling along the freeway.
So far the boys' comments on this city ranged from "It's so high tech" and "There's big buildings everywhere" to "It feels like London." What a drastic change from 20 years ago when I first visited the Middle Kingdom.
After dinner with a great friend, we are ready to sleep. Tomorrow I can't wait to show the boys my favorite park in Shanghai (Zhongshan Gongyuan) and the forest of skyscrapers in Pudong (and everywhere else you look).
