We admitted defeat by 5:30 and went to our favorite breakfast spot in China: McDonalds. Our driver met us at 7 am and a full day followed at the Great Wall at Mutianyu, the Summer Palace, and Beijing Acrobats at Chaoyang Theatre. By the end of the day Anna was in tears exhausted. But she took time to write her thoughts of the day:
We went to the Great Wall of China. We took cable cars up the mountain and we took sleds down the mountain. I thought it was on the ground but it was in the mountains. I also that it was flat and curved but it was mostly up and down with stairs. After that we went to get noodles and I saw them whacking the noodles. The noodle soup was yummy.
We are sure Anna will have more to say about the acrobats: the 12-girls piled on a bike, the crazy balancing acts, and the finale of 8 guys on motorcycles in one of those spherical cages. Though exhausted, this was a magical day.
Tomorrow morning we visit the Forbidden City, and we are off to Shanghai by fast train in the afternoon.
